Ever since I saw part 27507pb04 (Macaroni with Train Track Pattern) I knew I had to make something with it. Combining my 2 hobbies, Lego and Model Trains.
The goal was to make the model trains work, but keep the inner round plate fixed so anything in the center would not turn with the trains. And after a few iterations I got it working. The mechanism works 'good enough'. It takes a bit of force to rotate both trains but it is very acceptable.
I made a lot of effort to reduce the internal friction points as much as possible...
Initially I wanted the two train tracks to be offset by a couple of studs for more variation between the front and back of the model. But after some testing the model would end up a lot bigger than it is now so I din't.
This is the base design. I created a full landscape, but you could design your own landscape yourself.
In the digital design the 4x4 macaroni tiles have the Hogwarts print because they are the only print in Studio for that part.
